Winter Woes

winter woes

Winter can take a toll on most individuals.  As I arrived at my gym this morning, I noticed a lack of enthusiasm in a couple of regulars. So, I took a few minutes to engage in conversation with one woman and one man.  We conversed about snow and the cold weather, winter woes.  I jumped in with complaints just like the others.

Then, I got on the treadmill, cranked up the incline and speed and worked out the stress and anxiety I felt. These feelings were brought on by the endless snow and cold. But also, by entrenching myself in a negative conversation about the bad weather.

No more talking about snow. I needed a reframe of attitude to start this weekend.  So, I went on the warpath to find quotes that would help with my attitude shift.   Quotes can provide a “breath of fresh air” to sweep away the negativity.  What I did next secured my new view and actually added a BIG SMILE to my spirit.

So, what did I do?  I did the next best thing to going on vacation in a warm place. I “Googled” spring landscapes and drenched myself in the beauty and colors of nature.  A deep sigh and two cleansing breaths transformed my attitude to one of calm receptivity.

No season or mindset lasts forever.  I can control my attitude.  I encourage you to try this. It worked wonders for me, And, I believe it will do the same for you!

Reflection Question

Have you caught yourself complaining about the winter woes?  If so, what can you do to reframe your own attitude?
