Combat Low Self-Esteem with Powerful Positive Mantras

Combat Low Self-Esteem

When you emerge on the other side of depression, encouraging words (from you & your loved ones) make a world of difference. Combat low self-esteem with powerful, positive mantras.

Unfortunately, those of us with mental health disorders often find ourselves isolated and withdrawn. Not to mention, consumed with self-doubt and low self-esteem.  Most times it doesn’t matter what others are trying to tell us. We can’t hear their messages through the “chatter” of our negative, skewed thoughts and feelings.

However, when we finally find ourselves on the other side of an episode and our feelings and thoughts begin to clear, it’s the perfect time for us to hear positive, reinforcing messages.  We might be fortunate enough to receive these messages from family or friends. Or, we say the mantras ourselves in order to move further into mental wellness.

Do your best to remind yourself:

  • Thanks to my strong faith and treatment plan, I made it back
  • It took courage to get the help I needed to return to wellness, and I did it
  • I love myself

Family and friends can make a huge difference if they share similar messages:

  • I’ve always believed you had the endurance to get to wellness and here you are—well again
  • You’ve been so courageous in handling your mental health disorder, and I’m proud of you
  • I love you, dear one

You never know where your next life lesson will appear—just be open to it when it appears!

Reflection Question

How can you change your own messages to yourself?
