At times recovery may seem intimidating, but realistically you just have to take it one hug at a time.
We need to find peace and contentment in the present moment. However, in this fast-paced life that most of us live, we find ourselves rushing from place to place and from task to task. We rarely take time to appreciate the people we come in contact with.
Instead, we hurry off without sharing a moment or a warm embrace.
Self-love and hugs are powerful. According to research by Jack Canfield, people need 4 hugs a day for survival, 8 hugs for maintenance, and 12 hugs for growth.
At a recent speaking engagement, I asked the audience to share some hugs. Before I released this “hug fest” into action, though, I reminded them that before you lunge into a hug, it is hug etiquette to ask permission.
Throughout the next five minutes, individuals were encouraged to partake in as many hugs as they could. Get ready—set—start hugging. Immediately, the energy in the room soared. Hugs and laughter filled the air. At the end of the five minutes, however, people didn’t want to sit down. Instead, they wanted to pack as many hugs as they could.
Interestingly enough, a few individuals assured me they were able to get enough hugs in for two days of growth. WOW– that’s a lot of hugs!
